About

Oak Hills Custom Furniture is a small woodworking shop that builds custom, one off, heirloom pieces for our clients.  Time honoured craftsmanship, traditional joinery for strength and visual effects, techniques and the unique design integration of our client’s ideas, are all part of the process to deliver high quality, custom furniture and pieces. We build almost any type of furniture, including traditional and live edge dining and coffee tables, cabinets, bookcases, display cases, speaker stands, small or large jewelry boxes, custom shelves, and much more.

Solid, sustainable woods are used wherever possible, complimented by manufactured materials where more practical. We use a variety of natural hardwood and softwood lumbers. We can incorporate glass, raw or coloured steel and other materials into our pieces as well. We build hand crafted fine furniture, made to order from Clients drawings, pictures or just ideas.

We work hand in hand with our clients to ensure their expectations are met, in terms of design, functionality and finish. A consultative approach is taken with each Client to ensure a pleasant experience when it comes to choosing a style, design, particular wood for their piece, colour of stain or finish. Mass production is not part of our vocabulary.

Born and raised in the local area, Todd learned the majority of his craft while growing up on a 200-acre farm located on Oak Hill Lake, near Stirling, Ontario. He spent summers working on the family farm and various construction firms in the area. Easy access to lumber from the farm, including Cherry, Oak, Maple and Pine influenced Todd’s desire to work with wood at an early age, and has continued throughout his life.

Todd later attended Lake Head University in Thunder Bay, Ontario and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He continued to build and design furniture pieces after moving back to the area while working in manufacturing and various high tech industries for several years. Todd’s workshop, just East of Stirling in Thurlow Ward, now accommodates a well equipped woodworking studio.
